Patrick Bova
Patrick Bova is the Curatorial Associate for OF NOTE Magazine. He is a recent graduate from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where he developed a concentration centering on contemporary art, visual culture, museum studies, and anthropology. His studies considered the production of value, knowledge, and social change in contemporary art and museum practices, and aesthetics of (in)visibility and forms of visual repatriation. His thesis employed art criticism to investigate contemporary feminist and decolonial artistic practices addressing the Anthropocene or, more broadly, states of precarity; this is where his thoughts are constellated at the moment.
Patrick’s interest in curatorial practices centers questions of ethics, intention, authorship, and accessibility, while intersecting with feminist, queer, and decolonial frameworks to explore how new spaces for—or understandings of—art may be constructed. These questions were encouraged by internships he completed with Creative Time, The Drawing Center, and artbook @ MoMA PS1. Currently, he works with Nicelle Beauchene Gallery and Creative Capital in New York City.
Patrick grew up in beautiful Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. His spare time is filled with yoga, biking, and some occasional hiking—best if paired with a good book. He currently lives in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
